Arteriosclerosis is the major cause of most cardiovascular diseases
Arteriosclerosis is when the arteries are pathologically changed by
- Fat storage
- Hardening
- Calcification
- Inflammatory processes.
Deposits (so-called plaques) arise in the walls of the arteries, which narrow the vessel and, under certain circumstances, may even totally occlude it. It becomes dangerous if a plaque bursts. In this case, a blood clot may form, which totally occludes the artery.
